Ingredients:
- 1 cup Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2%)
- 1 cucumber, finely grated and drained
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon tzatziki seasoning
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: a pinch of fresh or dried mint, finely chopped
Instructions:
- Wash and peel the cucumber. You can leave some of the peel on for added texture and color if you prefer.
- Grate the cucumber using the large holes of a box grater.
- Place the grated cucumber in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth, and squeeze out as much moisture as possible. This step is crucial to prevent the dip from becoming too watery.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated and drained cucumber, minced garlic, tzatziki seasoning, olive oil, lemon juice, chopped dill, salt, and pepper.
- If using, add a pinch of fresh or dried mint for an extra layer of flavor.
- Mix all the ingredients together until well combined.
- Taste the dip and adjust the seasoning as needed, adding more salt, pepper, or lemon juice to suit your taste.
- Give the dip a good stir before serving.
- Transfer the tzatziki dip to a serving bowl and drizzle with a little extra olive oil on top, if desired.
- Garnish with a sprig of fresh dill or mint for a decorative touch.
