Pico de Gallo With Toasted Cumin

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 4 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 white onion, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño or serrano pepper, seeded if desired and finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1/4 teaspoon The Spice Way Cumin Seeds, toasted and ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste

Preparation:

1. Combine the tomatoes, onion, jalapeño or serrano, and cilantro in a mixing bowl.

2. Toast the cumin seeds in a dry skillet for 30 to 60 seconds until fragrant, then grind them finely.

3. Add the lime juice, ground cumin, and salt to the tomato mixture and toss gently.

4. Let sit 15 minutes, then taste and adjust salt or lime before serving with tacos, nachos, grilled meats, or eggs.
