Gulab Jamun

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup khoya (or milk powder)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Cardamom
  • 2 tbsp milk (as needed)
  • Ghee or oil (for frying)
  • 5 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Cardamom
  • A few saffron strands (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Mix khoya, flour, baking soda, and cardamom. Add milk little by little to make a soft dough.
  2. Form small, smooth balls.
  3. Deep fry in ghee/oil on low heat until golden brown.
  4. For syrup, boil sugar, water, and cardamom until slightly thickened.
  5. Soak fried jamuns in warm syrup for at least 1 hour.
