Chinese Red-Braised Pork (Hong Shao Rou)


Serves: 4 

Ingredients 

  • 1 lb pork belly, cubed 
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 The Spice Way Star Anise pods
  • 1 piece cinnamon stick
  • 1 cup water 

Preparation 

  1. Caramelize sugar in oil; add pork and brown. 

  1. Add soy, spices, and water. Simmer 45 minutes until tender. 

Plating Note: Remove star anise before serving; garnish with green onions.
