INGREDIENTS:
- 1½ pounds (680g) high-quality ground beef (85/15 blend for a juicier burger)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, for depth of flavor
- ½ teaspoon granulated garlic
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 4 artisan hamburger buns, toasted for crunch
- 4 slices of premium aged cheddar cheese, for richness
- Fresh lettuce leaves, preferably butter lettuce for sweetness and crunch
- Heirloom tomato slices, for a robust flavor
- Thinly sliced red onion, for a sharp bite
- High-quality dill pickles, sliced
- Homemade or high-quality mayonnaise, for creaminess
- Dijon mustard, for a tangy kick
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a bowl, gently mix the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Avoid overworking the meat to keep the patties tender. Form into 4 equal-sized patties.
- Heat your grill to medium-high. Then place the patties on the grill for about a 3-4 minute cook on one side, then flip. If you like cheese, add a slice of aged cheddar to each patty shortly after flipping, allowing it to melt as the burgers finish cooking. Grill to your preferred doneness.
- On the toasted artisan buns, layer the lettuce, tomato, and the grilled burger patty with melted cheese. Add slices of red onion, pickles, a spread of mayonnaise, and a dab of Dijon mustard.
- Present with a side of your choice, of hand-cut fries or a fresh garden salad.
