Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 tsp anise seeds
- Zest of 1 orange (orange peel)
- 1/2 tsp cassia cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- Extra butter & sugar for topping
Instruction:
- In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. Let sit for 5 minutes.
- Mix flour, sugar, salt, anise seeds, orange zest, and cinnamon.
- Add eggs and butter to the yeast mixture, then stir into the flour mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes. Let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Shape the dough into a round loaf. Add "bone" shapes on top using extra dough. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes.
- Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.
