Bloody Good Wings With Avocado-Lime Dip

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

For the Wings
  • 2 pounds chicken wings or wingettes and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon The Spice Way Cayenne Pepper
  • 2 teaspoons The Spice Way Smoked Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon The Spice Way Ground Coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon The Spice Way Ground Ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon The Spice Way Ground Allspice
  • 1 teaspoon The Spice Way Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon The Spice Way Black Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon The Spice Way Black Sesame Seeds, optional
For the Dip
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon The Spice Way Ground Cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon The Spice Way Garlic Powder
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:

1. Heat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and set a rack on top if you have one.

2. In a large bowl, mix the olive oil, honey, tomato paste, cayenne, smoked paprika, coriander, ginger, allspice, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss the wings in the mixture until evenly coated.

3. Arrange the wings in a single layer and bake 40 to 45 minutes, turning once halfway through, until browned and cooked through. Sprinkle with the black sesame seeds during the last 5 minutes if using. The wings should reach 165°F in the thickest part.

4. While the wings bake, blend the avocado, sour cream or yogurt, lime juice, cumin, garlic powder, and salt until smooth. Serve the wings hot with the dip on the side.

Plating Note: Pile the wings high on a dark platter and serve the avocado-lime dip in a small bowl alongside.
