Spice-Infused Pickled Okra (Southern Style)

Ingredients (for ~1 quart jar):

  • 1 lb (450 g) fresh okra
  • 1 cup (240 ml) white vinegar
  • 1 cup (240 ml) water
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon of The Spice Way Pickling Spice

Instructions:

  1. Prepare okra: Wash okra thoroughly. Pack into a sterilized jar with tips pointing up.
  2. Make brine: In a saucepan, bring vinegar, water, salt, and sugar to a boil. Turn off heat and stir in spices.
  3. Fill jar: Pour hot brine mixture into the jar, completely covering the okra.
  4. Store: Seal jar and refrigerate. Let flavors develop for 1–2 weeks before enjoying.
