Chickpea and Potato Chaat

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 2 cups boiled chickpeas, or canned chickpeas drained and rinsed
  • 2 medium potatoes, boiled, peeled, and diced
  • 1/2 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 green chile, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup tamarind chutney
  • 1/4 cup mint-coriander chutney
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt (optional)
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons The Spice Way Chaat Masala, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon The Spice Way Ground Cumin, toasted briefly if desired
  • Pinch of The Spice Way Red Chili Powder or Kashmiri chili powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sev, for garnish
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, combine chickpeas, potatoes, onion, tomato, green chile (if using), and cilantro.
  2. Season with chaat masala, cumin, chili powder, and salt. Toss gently to combine.
  3. Spoon into serving bowls or plates.
  4. Drizzle with tamarind chutney, mint-coriander chutney, and yogurt (if using).
  5. Top generously with sev and serve immediately with lemon wedges.
