Shawarma-Style Steak Rice Bowls

Serves: 4
Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 lbs flank steak or sirloin steak
  • 1 tablespoon The Spice Way Kebab Seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 garlic clove, finely grated
For the Rice
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
For the Sauce
  • 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon tahini
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt
For the Salad
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • Pinch of salt
Preparation
  1. Toss the steak with the Kebab Seasoning, olive oil, lemon juice, vinegar, salt, and garlic. Marinate 30 minutes to 4 hours.
  2. Cook the rice with the water and salt. Keep warm.
  3. Stir together the yogurt, tahini, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Toss the cucumber, tomato, parsley, and a pinch of salt together.
  5. Sear the steak in a very hot skillet or grill pan for 3 to 5 minutes per side, depending on thickness. Rest 10 minutes, then slice thinly.
  6. Build bowls with rice, sliced steak, salad, and sauce.
Plating Note

Fan the sliced steak over the rice instead of piling it in the center.
